Once there was a bulb asleep, In a basement dark and deep, Lacking water and fresh air But it never did dispair. Boldly it would stretch its head, Ready to burst out of bed, Till at last it caught our eye And we saw it did not die. Then we gave it sun and space In an honored viewing place.
