A Worm

If I were a fuzzy worm,
Nibbling tasty leaves of green,
I would know I had a term,
And transition in between.
I would not like my cocoon,
In a boring, lifeless stage.
I would pray for its end soon,
So I could escape the cage.
Then would come the happy day
When I'd need no longer cry.
I would gladly fly away!
I would be a butterfly.
