Duck and Frog | ||
Once there was a little duck Who thought he would try his luck. Since of swimming he was fond, He swam all across the pond. When he came to end of day, He had sadly lost his way. Then he saw a frog on pad, Looking very wise but sad. Duck said "Help me, I am lost Since I now the pond have crossed." Frog said, "Sorry, I'm lost, too. I don't know what we can do." Duck said, "We'll together try." Then they both began to cry. Night fell and they thought it best Both to sleep and get some rest. In the morn at dawn's first light, Duck perceived a welcome sight! Mother Duck flew slowly round Till she saw him on the ground. "You were wrong to swim away; We were searching all the day." "I'm so sorry, Mother dear; I am glad that you are here." Mother Duck said, "You must fly." Little Duck said "I will try." Then he flapped his wings with care, Rising high up in the air. "Wait," he said, "Let's take friend frog. He's lost, too, and all agog." "Fine," she said, with one quick quack, And put froggie on her back. They were flying very low When they saw frog's home below. Then they circled down to land On the soft and sunny sand. Little frog was glad to be With his parents by a tree. They said, "Thanks, Ducks, you're so kind To our precious offspring find." He said "Now that I am home, I'll be careful where I roam." When the Ducks had said goodbye They again began to fly O'er the pond to their fine nest, Where the youngster took a rest. | ||
