Jet Lag

When the body clock is ticking
It is hard to rise too soon.
Though one tries a bit of tricking
It would rather wait till noon.
When the dawn is late appearing,
Eyes are heavy in the head.
It is not a bit endearing
To be forced up out of bed.
Like a jet lag, it takes hours
To get on an even keel.
Even if one smells the flowers,
Things don't have the same appeal.
