Times to Shine

Leafy gumdrops line our way,
Wishing us a pleasant day.
Cherry, orange, lemon, too!
There is every shade but blue.
Mile on mile the shimmer past.
What a pity they won't last.
Warmed by day, yet cooled by night,
They are helped to be so bright.
You and I have seasons, too,
Times when we can shine, it's true.
When at last our limbs are bare
We'll remember, not despair.
