Jerry the Gerbil | ||
| Jerry the Gerbil was loose on the ground, Feeling quite hungry and sniffing around. No one was there so he started to roam, Checking out every fine room in the home. Under the sofa he chomped on a treat. It was a gumdrop that tasted so sweet. Into the dining room Jerry then crept, Under the table, it hadn't been swept. Jerry discovered a pea that had rolled He ate it up even though it was old. Then in the kitchen he found something more! Seven sweet cookie crumbs right on the floor. Now the cute gerbil had finished his snack, So he decided that he would head back. As he proceeded to look for his cage, He soon discovered a cat in a rage. Charlotte the cat had her fur standing high. Jerry was frightened. He thought he would cry. Charlotte decided to make him a meal. Licking her chops, she ignored his appeal. Jerry decided that he'd better run! Turning to cat food would not be much fun. Quickly he leaped to a space 'neath a chair, Confident Charlotte could not catch him there. | ||
