Susan the Boa | ||
Christopher, Andrew, and Timothy too Went for a walk 'cause they'd nothing to do. Karen, their cousin, joined them in their stroll, Checking 'neath bridges to find a stray troll. They found a boa constrictor instead. She used the base of the bridge for a bed. Susan the boa was 13 feet long, Round as a tree and with coils very strong. "Children," said Susan, "You're plump, I declare. I could consume you and have room to spare." Christopher said, "Would you rather have mice? We may look tender but we don't taste nice." Susan said, "Frankly, I much prefer rabbit. Five every day is my usual habit." "Well," said the kids, "here's what you can do. Let us escort you to our friendly zoo." Susan said, "Will there be plenty to eat?" "Surely," said Karen, "the food can't be beat." "Okay," said Susan, "I'll follow you there. Let's go right now for there's no time to spare." Quickly the kids beat a path to the zoo, Followed by Susan who felt somewhat blue. When they arrived they found just the right cage For a nice serpent of Sue's size and age. It was a large cage with plenty o glass So she could see all the folks as they pass. She had a tree she could wrap all around, And a warm house she could reach in a bound. Every day she got five rabbits to eat. "Boy," she said, "this place is really quite neat." Christopher, Andrew, and Timothy, too Took cousin Karen each day to the zoo. Susan was happy to see the kids there. When they arrived she would smile and declare: "Thank you, kind friends, for this wonderful home. I'm so content here I never will roam." | ||
