Failure

Although we strive so very hard,
At times we don't succeed.
We hold ourselves in high regard
Yet bend like tender reed.
We think we do the best we can
And try not to offend.
But we may be an also-ran
On whom one can't depend.
Reality won't make us flag.
We'll still retain our zeal.
Although we've little cause to brag
We trust our wounds will heal.
