Jerry Giraffe | ||
| Jerry Giraffe left his home in the zoo, Looking for something exciting to do. He went to Karen's for he knew the way. "Hey, Karen, why don't you come out to play?" "Okay," said she, "since my jobs are all done, I will come out so we both can have fun." First Jerry played that he was a big slide, Posing his neck to be used for a ride. Karen climbed up in an old apple tree, So she could slide down that neck with great glee. After a while Jerry said, "that's enough. You slid ten times and your shoes are too rough." Then Karen stayed on his back for a ride. He loped along with gargantuan stride. While he was walking it started to rain. Karen got wet and began to complain. Jerry stopped under a huge Banyan tree. There they would both stay as dry as could be. Up in that tree was a somnolent sloth Whose coat of fur looked just like a gray cloth. Sloth said "I'm Suzie and I like to sleep. Maybe it's due to the hours I keep." "Okay," said Karen, "We'll try to be still. Keep right on sleeping till you've had your fill. Suzie the sloth took a nap upside down. Jerry said, "She really looks like a clown." When she awoke she was fully refreshed. In just an instant her brain was enmeshed. Since the rain stopped they all went for a walk, Glad for the chance they could wander and talk. Suzie hung on to tall Jerry's warm neck, Where she could give an affectionate peck. Karen held tight to the nice giraffe's back, Picking some mangos to put in her sack. She couldn't reach some that were up quite high. Jerry could get them the very first try. Mangos were tasty, so each one had two. Then they all needed to wash off the goo. Right down the path was a beach with a lake. They took a swim just for cleanliness' sake. Suzie said, "How can I dry off my fur? I am so mangy I feel like a cur." Jerry said, "Swing by your tail from the tree! There you will rapidly dry out, you'll see. Suzie stayed up in the tree for a rest. She was just doing the thing she liked best. Karen went straight home so she could nap too. Jerry, quite happy, went back to the zoo. | ||
