Pollution

Polluted air distorts the view.
I long for clearer days,
But there is nothing I can do
To pierce the filthy haze.
I have to take it as it is,
For beauty still lies there.
The champagne hasn't lost its fizz;
The garden still is fair.
With people, too, I must attempt
To see beneath their skin.
Although they look a bit unkempt
They may have joy within.
