Jennifer the Kangaroo | ||
| Andrew and Christopher hopped on a plane, Leading a kangaroo on by a chain. Jennifer was the cute kangaroo's name, And her good humor was always the same. Swiftly the plane left the ground for the sky. Jennifer thus had her first chance to fly. People in cities and mountains grew small. Jenny and boys were all having a ball. Clouds were arrayed like a cushion below, Like cotton candy or new fallen snow. Soon they were served a delectable snack As the plane kept on its aerial track. Then they lay back for a nap in their seat, Doffing their shoes so to air out their feet. But as they rested they hit bumpy air, Almost ejecting them out of their chair. Then the two boys and their kangaroo friend Prayed for the turbulent weather to end. After a while they found quieter sky, Giving them much more enjoyment to fly. Just then the pilot ran back to inquire: "Could someone help us extinguish a fire?" Andrew and Christopher filled up a pail, Knowing their courage would not let them fail. After they drowned out the menacing blaze All of the passengers gave them much praise. Jennifer hopped down the aisle full of glee, Like a marsupial suddenly free. After a while the excitement had passed, But the calm interlude flew all too fast. Suddenly all of the plane's engines died And the plane started an ominous glide. Pilot and co-pilot started to cry, Scared that their passengers also might die. Jennifer hopped up and gave them a clue So they would know just what else they could do. Jennifer told them to land on a road So that the engines would never explode. Carefully that's what the pilot then did, Right on a highway the jumbo jet slid Doors were soon opened and out popped a slide Down which the boys and dear Jenny could glide. No one was hurt and they all gave a cheer, Glad that the smart kangaroo was right here. After an hour of engine repair Once more the jet could fly up in the air. No more adventures, I'm happy to say; They had enough that would last them all day. | ||
