Peggy the Dinosaur | ||
Andrew and Christopher looked for some eggs, Chasing all over with powerful legs. They found a huge one on top of the wall. It was the size of a big basketball. Colored quite strangely, the egg was bright pink. They brought it homeward as quick as a wink. "Look, Mom," they said with some obvious pride. Now that we found it, can it stay inside?" "Surely," said Mother, I don't see why not. "I'm not sure what kind of egg you have got. They set it carefully right on the table, Holding it steady as best they were able. Then the great pink egg decided to shake. Harder and faster, it started to break. Out from the shell and right on to the floor Hopped an amazing young pink dinosaur. "Hi, folks," she said with a nice friendly smile. "I think I'd like to stay here for a while." Andrew and Christopher said, "Well, we guess You can stay here if you don't make a mess. Tell us, pink dinosaur, what is your name?" "Peggy," she answered, "and I am quite tame. All I will eat is some succulent grass, But I will not let the dogs or cats pass. Hop on my back and we'll go for a ride." Andrew and Christopher gladly complied. Not far from home, when they went in the park, Out popped a dog with a menacing bark. Peggy the dinosaur said "Never fear! I shall protect you as long as I'm here." Out from her mouth came a long tongue of flame, Hitting the dog with most accurate aim. "Yow," yelped the dog as he ran off in pain, Hoping to find a cool shower of rain. "How did you do that?" the shocked boys inquired. Peggy said, "I only do what's required." Off the boys rode on the dinosaur's back, Looking for trains when they came to a track. Then they discovered a car that was loose. It was a battered but charming caboose. Brakemen were crying and tearing their hair. They found a coupling that needed repair. What they required was a hot welding torch But they had left it back home on the porch. Peggy the dinosaur offered her aid. She shot a flame and the weld was soon made. "Thanks," said the trainman, "You fixed it quite well. You gave us all a great story to tell." Andrew and Christopher took their pet home So they could give her a bath with some foam. Sadly the water was not very hot. Peggy decided to heat it a lot. Her tongue of flame warmed the water just right. Mother exclaimed, "That was quite a strange sight." Then it was time to cook steaks on the grill. Peggy helped out with a flame for a thrill. Pink dinosaurs are the best you can get. Andrew and Christopher loved their new pet. "Peggy, there's no doubt that you are the best, But it is time that we all got some rest." | ||
