Madeline the Reindeer | ||
The littlest reindeer was in bed. She knew she couldn't pull the sled That Santa filled with games and toys For all the waiting girls and boys. The reindeer's name was Madeline And she was tiny, weak, and thin. "I wish that I could help," she cried, As Santa hastened to her side. "I've just the job for you," he said. "It's time to jump out of your bed. Just hop right on my trusty sleigh And we'll be up, up and away!" When they had flown for many a mile The tiny deer began to smile. "I like this ride, it's so much fun. I wish that it were never done." But then the sleigh began to drop And on a little rooftop stop. "It's here I need your help," he said. "Eleven children are in bed, All dreaming sweetly through the night. But this old chimney's much too tight. Dear Madeline, it's up to you To see if you can slip down through." "Of course I can," the deer replied. She took the presents down inside. The kids awoke in great surprise To see a deer before their eyes. "Just where is Santa?" they all said. "Since he's too big, I came instead." "Well, thanks a lot," the children cheered. "We sure are glad that you appeared." As they began to use their toys She slipped away without a noise. Then Madeline rejoined the sleigh And, filled with pride, she flew away. | ||
