Sleepy Head the Giraffe
A tall giraffe with friendly smile Escaped her cage and roamed a while. She looked for friends all down the street Until a boy she chanced to meet. The boy, of course, was Christopher, Who saw some spots go by ablur. The tall giraffe then stopped and said, "Hello, my name is Sleepy Head." "Hi, Sleepy Head," said Christopher. "You're making quite a public stir. May I just walk along with you? I've really nothing else to do." "Of course," she said, "but I am lost. I must get home at any cost." "Well, Sleepy Head, where is your bed?" The helpful boy politely said. "I live with Mama at the zoo," Said Sleepy Head, and it was true. So Christopher showed her the way And got her home by end of day. She gave his ear a friendly lick And let him rub her coat so slick. The two became the best of friends And that is how this poem ends.
