Rain

The rain was splashing on my head
But I was none the worse for wear,
For I had had my daily bread
And knew a peace beyond compare.
I could have run to dodge the rain
But it would get me anyway.
It doesn't cause a major strain,
Or keep me from a happy day.
If I should soon get soaking wet
I'd hie me homeward for to dry.
The inconvenience I'd forget,
And never hang my head to cry.
The rabbits hop for simple joy
Despite the rain they have to bear.
Their fragrant grass will never cloy
And they will scamper everywhere.
